Upload of plant project to BIM 360 Team Fails

I have some trouble uploading a Plant 3D project to BIM 360 Team. I get an error message (see attachment).   However, the project seams to be uploaded, and as far I can see all files are uploaded to BIM. But there is no connection back to Plant 3D, so I can’t see or open the project in Plant 3D Project Manager.

I have already secured that there are no references to files outside the project folder and the given the project a simple name without any special characters (only letters and numbers)

The project is based on a customer template.

I have tried to make a new “default project” as it comes out of the box from Autodesk and that works. But I need to be able to upload projects based on our customer templates.

Audit / Plantaudit did not help eider.

If anyone have some ideas of what the problem could be, it would be much appreciated.

I run AutoCad Plant 3D 2020.1.3

Regards

Aksel J.

How long is the name of the project?

The name consist of 9 letter and numbers and no spaces or special charterers.

The "default project" I created has been named in the same manner, and that one was successful uploaded.

Maybe our costumer template just have inherit too much "bad DNA" from earlier generations of templates so it won't work with BIM 360 Team?

Maybe I should mention… I’m working from home via a VPN connection.  Could that make it more sensitive?   But the again, my default project did upload and connect.

Try it with a brand new project with the same name, and don't use any other project as a template. This will determine if its BIM360 or the template project causing the issue.

Tried that. And a brand new project is uploading and connecting fine. So i guess the problem is within the template. (which is uploading but do not connect) Are there any realistic way to track down such an error.  Or is the only solution to start all over and make a new template from scratch?  - (something I really hoped I could avoid of course)

You probably need to rebase the project against the current latest (available to you) version.  You can download the 30 day trial of planttools and they have a tool, I think, to do just this.  There could be quite a lot of items preventing the upload, the project might be full of very custom items and/or custom database edits or other random stuff that can go wrong, one item that was preventing us was a custom motor symbol used on p&ids, you can imagine how long it took us to figure that one out.

Thanks a lot George and Tomislav,

Much appreciated.

I guess I just have to up-skill myself and get on with it.

I guess it the program PlantSync from au:xalia you suggest? https://www.auxalia.com/en/product/plantsync/

By any change, do you know if an upgrade to AP3D 2021 and BIM 360 DOCS would be a more “forgiving” combination with respect to templates, and thus solve my problem? (just my last hope to avoid fighting with the template)

I will let the forum know how it went when I have tried it out.

I would lean towards a custom class/block/attribute that is causing the issue. You might just need to start looking at each customisation one by one. This is why when I do client builds, I like to prefix the new class with three letters indicating what is custom, and what is out of the box with Plant3D. If something is broken, I can delete the class and it won't affect the standard classes in the software.

I was unable to get a PlantSync from au:xalia installed (Cooperate IT-restrictions).  But I could upload a a blank project to team.  The solution I finally ended up wit was an upgrade to Plant 3D 2021 and BIM 360 Doc...  Then it worked!
