SQL Server

I've recently switched from SQL Lite to SQL Server and had a few questions:

Our IT department wants limited rights to the project administrator who sets up the projects (me) so he created a special login in order for me to create new projects to the SQL. After that, I have to login under my user account ("public") to work in Plant 3D. Will this create any problems?

Will I be able to modify project settings with my "public" rights or do I have to login with the special login?

Can you change project settings (services, tagging, symbols, etc.) while other users are in a project file (Lite you can not)?

Can you change a spec while a user is in a project file (Lite you can not)?

Thanks

Probably the best thing to do here is to try it out.  Create a TEST project under these conditions and see if these IT restrictions allow you to do what you need to do.  Note too that the first whitepaper below covers SQL Server Security Rights and other setup steps.

If it's like our setup here, the special login gives you rights to the SQL server, but has nothing necessarily to do with your plant project settings. They are stored in your project.xml and projectsymbolstyle.dwg files either on your local or network drive. If you were able to access these settings before, this should not change because of moving the databases to an SQL server.

You can not change settings while other users are in the project.

Specs can not be changed while another user is the project. However, you can change a copy of the spec (perhaps in a "master" spec folder) and then copy (and replace) that to your project spec sheets folder while users are in the project.
