Spec Editor - Export not working properly

I am one of a few people at my company using Spec Editor 2018 to create Catalog items in the Plant 3D Spec Editor.

We all use 32 bit MS Excel, but I am having trouble with my exported excel file.

When I use the export command, there is no green status bar like the one that pops up for others, then when the file is created, it tells me it is "read only" when I go to open it. When it opens, it contains the information from the "catalog browser" rather than the "component editor."

I've tried to reinstall both Excel and Plant 3D, but no luck figuring out why mine is acting differently than others.

Dear @dbenner,

Can you describe what you export to Excel?

After export, please look in the Task Manager to see if not an instance of Excel is running, if so please quit task and open the exported Detei again with excel.

After exporting the file, close the program reboot. Open exported excel
file before opening plant. You will be able to open it not in read only
mode.

Thanks for the reply!

I've tested the "read-only" issue a little more, and I think the feedback is correct that I just need to wait longer/shut down for the file to "finish." So, that isn't the main issue now.

My main problem is the file that is created. I've attached some screenshots to explain this more clearly, as requested. I've taken the same exact catalog item and exported it on two different computers, mine and one that is functioning properly. Mine essentially reproduces the description of the catalog item. What I should get instead is a "full listing" from the catalog item, as shown in the screenshots/attachments.

There are two buttons on the top right directly above the list of items in the catalog. One has a single pipe and the other three. Hit the one with the three and you will see the list of parts in the catalog will expand to individual sizes. With that done run the export once you have narrowed down to the component you want.

@dbenner.

"Capture 3" -  Exported by "Export Catalog Builder" option which allows you for Script changes and Meta data changes

"Capture 2" -  Exported by "Export to Excel" option which allows you to do only meta data changes

I was finally able to solve this problem.

My guess is that the issue was an error in my system registry between Excel and Autocad.

Reinstalling Windows 10 appears to have completely fixed it.

I reinstalled Windows 10. When you go to reinstall, it gives you the option to "keep your files" and that is what I tried and it worked for me.
