PROBLEM OF SCALE WITH SPEC EDITOR IN AUTOCAD PLANT 3D 2018

AT THE TIME OF CREATING A NEW PIECE IN EDITOR OF ESP, PLACE THE VALUE OF THE OD AS CORRESPONDED IN mm.

AND AT THE TIME OF INSERTING THE BLOCK, THE SCALE IS GREATER TO THE BLOCK

Incorrect project and spec units.

YOU DO NOT UNDERSTAND, IN IMAGE 01, I CLEARLY PUT THE VALUES CORRECTIONS, BUT AT THE TIME OF INSERTING THEM THE PROGRAM MODIFIES THESE VALUES AUTOMATICALLY, AND THIS ERROR ONLY PASSES IN VERSION 2018. IN PREVIOUS VERSIONS THIS PERFECT ..

Hi @jimbar1085,

 

Anyone who enters the SpecEditor under Imperial units 114.3 inches (1) should not be surprised to receive 2903.22 mm (2).
Please look at the units either all mm or all inch!

For block based parts check the units of the block. This is the most common source of scaling issues from Spec Editor to Plant when using block based parts.

 

Make sure the units of the block are unitless. I normally draw all my parts in Imperial units and create them as Imperial parts/dimensions in Spec Editor and then generally it works to place them in either Metric or Imperial projects. This is especially true with Mixed Metric projects.

I have been working with the program since 2009, and worked on imperial and mixed metrics, and I never had problems inserting blocks, the DN is always in inches; I'm still working on the 2017 version and there I do not have the problem, but it makes me complicated to work on the 2017 version and present it My projects in the 2018 version, you already imagine the loss of time it is for me to do that, I already talked with other specialists and developers of autodesk and they told me that if there is indeed a problem in the scaea blocks in the spec editor. PLEASE TYPE YOUR RESPONSE BUT IT DOES NOT SERVE ME.

Certainly not the case in the least.

 

Below:

 

Plant 3D 2018 with an out of the box mixed metric project. Pipe is 2" in diameter and block based part was created using Imperial dimensions with units set to unitless. As you can see Ports, units matching OD and nominal units are all 100% correct as is the valve scale.

Your block is scaled at 25.4. You need to set to 1.

The problem persists, I think the error is the "PLANTPARTCONVERT" command. As you can see, however much I detailed the points correctly, at the time of inserting the generated element, it shows one of its nodes totally dispersed from the element and the location that was given in the "PLANTPARTCONVERT" command. I had this very same issue. Created a block add it to the Catalog and specs and the scale was 25.4 larger in my MMetric piping model. All my other previously created plantconvert blocks are working fine until I realized that when I created this new block I was in a MMETRIC project. I opened our Template Imperial project (where I create all our blocks) and recreated this troublesome block. Added it back into our Catalogs and specs and all is well the scale was correct in the MMETRIC project.

 

Are you creating this plantconvert  block in Imperial or MMETRIC project?

 

Try opening an Imperial project and recreate your block. Add it to your Catalog/Specs and see if the scaling is corrected in your MMETRIC.

The ports look okay on the block .But again its a scaling issue. 

 

Units are very important during this process. This is why i do it the following way - 

 

Draw Block with imperial dimensions

Create block as "unitless"

Create Part in Catalog as Imperial Part

Insert into a spec 

Insert into any project unit type

 

I've tested this many times and its my preferred method for accuracy and reliability.

 

Lastly - if you've created the part and are using the exact same block name you'll to purge it out each time or any new parts inserted will use the duplicate block definition - a common issue when using block based parts. I cannot stress this enough - i've seen many folks, including myself, forget to purge old blocks and assume that my part is wrong when it was really that my new part was referencing an old block.

I have the same problem, all my catalog was created in Plant 3D 2013 and with same steps i can't create a new element on the catalog without scaling blocks.
all my library was created in millimeters, your solution it implies redefine all elements.

 

5 years working with P3D 2013, and i've never had problems like this

Hi,

 

Is this a new problem that wasn't an issue in previous releases?

I've recently begun using P3D 2019 (Mixed Metric) & I cannot get custom parts created from blocks to insert at the correct scale. We always draw in metric but if I define the block as an imperial part (e.g. 6") when creating it in the catalog & then add to spec & insert back into modelspace (the same modelspace containing the original block) it converts the block up from metric to imperial.

E.g. an item 100mm long inserts at 2540mm long.

 

This was never an issue in previous versions I've used, 2013 & 2017. Previous parts created in those releases insert fine into 2019. It's only newly created parts in 2019 that have this issue.

 

I've tried to change every variable I can think of within -dwgunits, block units inch, mm, unitless etc.

I can only get it to work successfully if i define everything in mm when creating in the catalog but i want the part to be identified as imperial on screen (e.g. 6" instead of 150mm) so that it aligns better with the ASME catalogs.

 

This also leads to another issue whereby default plant imperial parts will not connect to the all metric defined element.

 

Any advice appreciated.
