Plant 3D - How do you setup autonumbering for custom/new symbols?

Hi all,

Autodesk created a full symbol library conforming to the latest BS EN ISO 10628 standard for us a while back as the default ISO symbols have errors/omissions.

I am trying to set up a project with these custom/new symbols and have added a couple of tanks to start and am now trying to understand how to set up the tagging so that it takes the next available sequential number.

I have been following this guide:

How to create autonumbering for P&ID valves and pipeline for each drawing separately in AutoCAD Plan...

I get to the following point.

LastTankNumber is something I added by clicking the New... button at the top but then there is no obvious way to link that to anything or configure it. Any ideas where I go from here?

Thanks.

@bradley_sparksXLW2T ,

1. Always use counter as project field

2. Always create a dedicated TAG format (Tank-Tag)

Thanks for the response, but I am still having issues with this. This is my setup so far:

And this is what I get when trying to implement:

When annotating I have to type in a number there is no autonumbering.

Thanks.

Have you also assigned your Tank-TAG format to the ‘TagFormatName’ field?

I hadn't, but I have now and it hasn't changed anything.

@bradley_sparksXLW2T ,

where did you do your admin training for Plant 3D?
Did you not go through these points?

I am missing the additional information because it works for me without a problem, which I have recreated in my P3D configuration in the P&ID area using your specifications.

I have figured it out now.

Need to go into 'Edit Symbol' for each symbol and on 'Tagging prompt' change it from 'Not a tagged component' to one of the other options.

Thanks for your help @h_eger !
