Hi,
I have mapped the P&ID properties to Plant 3D, but they are actually not copied when placed. I the watched one of the Plant3D consultants webcast on youtube and it didn't work either.... but he did not explain why or showed how to fix it.
Has anyone the mapping between P&ID and Plant3D working ???
Best regards,
Jan
Hi There,
Just want to check whether you have followed the same steps as given below,
If its object mapping then try this one,
Let me know your updates.
Hi, yes I followed it and now I saw it work for new placed items, but not for existing items already placed in the model.
a) Is there anyway trigger an update?
b) The is also some other update issue. I need to re-trigger the Tags in Plant3D (not P&ID, there it works) ? In plant 3d side I can only update a tag by clicking every item tag for tag assignment and then it updates. The command PLANTREFRESHACQPROPERTY does not work on the Plant side of things .....
c) Is this a bug ?? or missing feature ? http://adndevblog.typepad.com/autocad/2012/10/autocad-pidplant-3d-is-there-any-api-to-recalculate-ta...
Best regards,
Jan
Do you still need help on this?
Writing this so other people who find this thread know:
There are two places you have to configure P&ID-to-P3D validation for it to work. First, go to Project Setup > Plant 3D DWG Settings > P&ID Object Mapping. Configure what properties you want each item to validate/map to. See help documentation or links from some of the other posts in this thread for more details on this.
Note this section of Project Setup controls both what properties copy over when using the P&ID line list to place components in Plant 3D AND what settings are checked during validation.
The second place you have to configure things is Validation Settings.
The validation between Plant 3D and P&IDs is not automatic. You have to use the Validation tool (larger circled button in screenshot below) every time you want Plant 3D to check for mismatched properties*. Be sure to use the Validation Settings tool (smaller button) first.
[*There's a reason for this. Every time P&ID-to-model validation is run, Plant 3D has to evaluate the whole project -- it has to open every file. Off-page connectors rarely line up with piping files. A piece of equipment might have its piping in another file.
Because of these and other holdups, manual validation is one of the better options out there. That's not to say Plant 3D couldn't be better about how it executes validation, but that's another discussion for another day.]
