Lost Linetype - defaulted back to continuous

So I have been working in a project that has 12 different P&ID's and have not had any issues when creating new sheets etc with linetypes. Today while working, my PC went to sleep and when I returned to the drawings all the drawings (including the not opened ones) defaulted back to continuous lines. In the project setup they are setup to be by layer. When you select a line that is messed up it is blank in the Properties Window. The instrument lines are setup to drawn per specified linetype. I have tried to Purge, used a different version of P3D, had other users open the files, restore the drawings from yesterday, but nothing seems to work.

Any solution on this matter?

Unfortunately not.

I created a support case and they responded saying that reverting back to 2024 was the only option.

They then asked if they could close the ticket as being resolved. Laughable...

I bluntly suggested to keep the case open so that it remained in their system that it was an unresolved and important problem that requires urgent attention.

The ticket was closed.

Hi All

@Gilmar.Xavier @dmerrittHQE4L @h_eger @GCM_S_Hotte @tim_proemper7FMU6

Good News

I just received a random email from a Senior Product Support specialist, with a link to a 2025.1 hotfix.

Check out the Article here

https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Linetype-randomly-...

Note: I haven't tested it yet.

I will do tomorrow and report here.

Cheers

Luke

Solution posted above by @luke.coxonUB8Z4 works for me. Updated files, opened and closed the files and the linetypes stayed.

This is an issue with 2025. The .lin and .shx files are missing the line types. You can overwrite the 2025 ones with the 2024 versions to fix it. As always make backups. They are in the installation directory.

Thanks Dave

Does this replacement prevent the line type loss from happening again?

Or is it for the purpose reinstating the line types in projects that were effected before the hotfix was deployed?

As in

The hotfix stops the problem happening again.

The .lin & .shx replacement reinstates the lines inside already damaged P&ID sets.

I'm assuming that only the P&ID drawings that were opened before the hotfix were affected.

Regards

Luke

It’s a permanent fix as the line types could not be found in the support file search path. With the fix, they will be.

The solution of changing the dll, It didn't work for me, I work with ACC projects, the project keeps running and doesn't load, I tried copying a backup of it to the collaborate cache folder and it opened but gave the error below.

I returned to the backup dll and opened the projects again.
