Hello,

First of all, request you to please refer the below link which posted in the Autodesk Vault forums.

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/vault-forum/is-is-possible-to-create-another-sql-instance-on-the-same...

To get more clarification and getting workarounds, I am approaching Plant 3D forums for the same. And please check below:

Currently, utilizing Autodesk Vault to manage AutoCAD Plant 3D project files for department 1.

For that we've already created an instance in SQL server and working on with Vault perfectly.

Now we are planning to create another SQL instance for department 2 on the same SQL server which we've been used it for the department 1.

Is this the right way of approach?

Below is agenda what we are trying to achieve:

1. Single SQL server

2. Two SQL instances (department 1 and department 2)

3. Two Vaults in ADMS (department 1 and department 2)

Is there any complication on this?

and if we performed this, can we simply enter the details of Vault name as well as SQL server instance name while creating plant projects based upon department 1 and department 2 users? (please refer attached images for this)

Please kindly check and provide your feedback.

Thank you.

Have you also asked this on the Vault forum? Vault is more restricted qua setup than Plant 3D SQL Server project. For Plant 3D you just need a separate SQL instance per project and even that is just a recommendation:

"An existing SQL instance can be used for projects, but it is recommended that AutoCAD Plant 3D has its
own dedicated instance to use."

Hello,

Thanks for your quick reply.

I've asked the same in Vault forums. Please check my attached link from my previous message.

Actually we are already having an existing SQL instance and which is been used for projects by department 1.

Now we are planning to another SQL instance on the same SQL server for department 2.

As you know that, we need to add users as well as we need assign roles. So both department people are different. So that's why we want to keep them separated by two SQL instances.

So my question is currently the existing SQL instance used with Vault, now is it possible to create another SQL instance for department 2 projects?

It should be possible to have a second Vault for the department 2 projects. If you're unsure contact your Autodesk reseller or local support to have them guide you through the process.
