Inline Instruments with Actuators

We can’t find any option for adding an actuator to this instrument valve in the spec. Is this possible after placing the valve in the pipe line in the model?

It is important that the control valve be identified as an instrument in the spec, as our Instrumentation & Controls group purchases these valves (not Piping). We do not want to make a fake representation of the control valve with a manual piping valve.

Thank you for the reply however, this only seems to be an available option in the properties on a "piping valve". We need to be able to add actuators to in-line instruments. After creating an In-line Instrument valve, there seems to be no option to add an actuator.

There also does not seem to be an option for creating an instrument using a Custom Block.

Hi @Anonymous,

What version of Plant are you using?

I tested in Plant 3D 2019 and it is possible to add an actuator to an instrument and it is also possible to add a block based instrument to a catalog.

Thanks,

I am currently using AutoPlant 3D 2018. Is there a Hot FIX or possibly a patch that can add this feature for 2018 or do I just need to upgrade to 2019.

Hi @Anonymous,

For the actuator you will need to move to Plant 3D 2019.

I tested creating a block based instrument in 2018 and that worked OK for me.

Thanks,

Dan

What do you mean by block based dwg? Do I need to draw both the valve and actuator in single dwg or only actuator so that I can place it on existing valve by changing the operator only?

The types of actuators at firgelliauto  are not the types of actuators used for valves, yet this "engineer" from Firgelli keeps posting this same response.
