How to change Reinforcement Pad Default Long Description

Hi,

How to change Reinforcement Pad default long description (Family) to

REINFORMENT PAD, MATERIAL SAME AS PIPE in Plant 3D project?

I tried to set the default value in

Plant 3D Class Definitions -> Piping and Equipment ->Fasteners -> Reinforcement Ring -> *PartFamilyLongDesc -> Default Valve to REINFORMENT PAD, MATERIAL SAME AS PIPE

But the long description still shows "Reinforcement Ring", when adding new reinforcement pad

Thanks!

Hello @david_huangQZ23Q

It seems that the three descriptions (short, long by family, long by diameter) are hard defined by Plant 3D.
The default values in the class of this component type do not change anything.
To change these descriptions you must therefore use the properties of the objects or go through the data manager.

== French ==

You can add reinforcement rings to your catalog and spec and define default sizes/descriptions, etc.

When available in the spec (you will need to make one for each possible combination of sizes) the ring from the spec with all its properties will be placed instead of the hard-coded one.

You can also edit the joint setup so that rings are placed automatically with each tapweld

Don't forget to place a spec filter to match the nominal diameters (both) otherwise the wrong size ring might be inserted.

Dear Sir, @Michiel.Valcke ,

RPAD Graphic is not available at my Plant 3D. Have you done python scripting for the same or have default in plant 3D?

@ganesh_gCNKFB

The Parametric shape you saw in my screenshot came out of the box, no custom shape needed.

Do you have a complete installation of Plant 3D?

What version of Plant 3D are you using?

Do you have other parametric shapes for other component classes or fasteners?

The name of the shape is CPMV. If correctly installed you should find a variants.zip file in your program folder under 'C:\Program Files\Autodesk\AutoCAD 2026\PLNT3D\ContentScripts' It should be contained there inside the .zip file under the weldentsub folder. !!! DO NOT UNZIP !!! variants.zip, if you find it that should be enough.

Yes

What version of Plant 3D are you using?

2024

I can see more shapes for other components like Pipe, Fittings, Misc, Flanges  but not for Fasteners.

The name of the shape is CPMV. Variants.zip is available in my system on said path.

At this point I have to believe there is an issue with the installation or with your windows user rights.

You can try a full uninstall and re-install
https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Clean-uninstall.ht...

But first I would check with your IT if you have sufficient rights
https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/What-user-permissi...

Also check if it works from a different Windows account, if it does, you might need to rebuild your Windows account.

If these do not help, you will have to contact Autodesk directly
