I'm currently experimenting in Plant 3D with a third party plug-in (FARO as-built for AutoCad) which requires using perspective view (I need to be able to work from inside a point cloud).
Is there a way in Plant 3D to change the default field of view in perspective mode? It seems to be at 70 degrees or something and I rather have it on 90 or 100 degrees.
Something like this (screenshot from Navisworks):

Hi @m.bevers,
The FOV is controlled by the lens length.
When you insert the camera, set the LEns to 18. That should set the FOV to 90.
From my tests the setting is saved in the drawing so it should be possible to set it to the default value in your template.
Thanks,
Dan
Thank you Dan.scales, but this is not what I mean.
I am not talking about inserting camera positions (and setting their fov). Also, just changing "lenslength" in the command bar doesn't seem to have any effect while in perspective view mode.
What I do mean:
When switching over from parallel view (fov 0) to perspective mode, I'd like to be able to adjust the default perspective view.
Hi @m.bevers,
Thanks for the update.
Try the following:
Any new drawings created should default the updated FOV setting.
The same procedure can be done in any existing drawing to update the FOV setting.
Hope this helps.
Thanks,
Dan
It doesn't seem to have any effect at all. I don't see anything changing in my current drawing nor when I open a new one. Maybe I'm doing something wrong though..
Did you test this yourself? And did it work?
Hi @m.bevers,
The change in the template (and existing drawings) needs to be done while in the parallel view - apologies I should have made that clear.
Once the change is done and the template or drawing is saved it will remain the default when switching to perspective view.
Thanks,
Dan
Thanks Dan, this seems to be working indeed!
It only causes a problem with the "clipping plane" (as it's called in Navisworks). Using a higher fov setting causes half my screen getting clipped
Like this:
Any solution for this?
You misunderstood me Dan,
Plant 3D is clipping my drawing. The screenshot I posted was taken in Plant 3D (I just refered to Navisworks as I wasn't sure Plant 3D uses the term "clipping plane"
