Fatal Error unhandles access violation reading 0xffffffff exception at f7269f7ah

Hey,

So I have been having an issue going from 3d to 2d. I have 3 ortho files I would like to put together. They are fine in a 3d view but as soon as I section them and press ok for 2d, AutocadPlant 3d loads quickly and givese me the error

unhandled fatal error.PNG

I have attempted to do this with different drawings and continue to have the same error type.

Any help with going from 3d to 2d is much appreciated.

Thanks.

There isn't enough info here to go on. I can see that you've crashed a few times with it on the same process but we need more info:

What version are you using? All updates installed for it?

Are you using the Orthographic drawings/views to generate 2D?

At what point in the procedure is it crashing?

What do you mean Autocad Plant 3d loads quickly and givese me the error...?

How many other drawings?

Are you cutting one master with Xrefs or multiples?

Thanks for the reply,

I'm using Autodesk AutoCAD Plant 3D 2015

Yes Ortho drawings to make 2D

Basically, I click new view in the top left and then select my files. It loads everything together and then I shrink the cube to fit the size I need. After I click OK I have the white box and place it on the drawing. As it begins to load and go through different cycles, the first two cycles load pretty quickly. After another 30s I just get the error from above, then the program closes.

I hope this is a better description for you

I have only tried to load between 3 or 4 drawings at a time, but just section of those drawings.

I believe there are multiple Xref drawings I am putting together, then I take a piece of the total.

Thanks again for your help. Please let me know if you need more clarification.

Just wanted to make a quick update.

My boss has figured out that one of the files I am using is corrupt. The file will open by itself; however, going from 3d to 2d is still causing the shutdown. Hope this helps. Thanks.

That makes sense. Generally a corrupt file is the problem when it crashes like that. If the file is working in 3D and seems to be okay. Check for overly complex graphics, actuators, equipment, etc. and make sure there is nothing like screws, holes, voids, surfaces and regions. Those tend to really bog down the process and cause it to crash.

Thanks for the feed back.

Here's the new update:

After finding the corrupt file, we tried to purge it and place it back in.

Did not work.

Error after initial fix to convey piping.PNG

Next we used a similar, but updated file.

Also did not work.

Error after switching to updated convey pipeline.PNG

Lastly, we tried taking an old file from last week that did work and use it in the project.

Same problem.

Error after getting file from last week.PNG

Unfortunately, We're running out of ideas. Could the issue be I have too many old files in the folder? I'm open to suggestions.

Thanks.

Maybe, but i have no idea what you are doing to purge the files and you have multiples of the same file. This is troubling for database reliability. Are they all added to the project?

Are you using recovered files? .Baks? Copy and paste?

It could be the file - OR the objects in the file that is causing the issue.

Remove all versions of the corrupt drawing of the same file from the project (not explorer) via project manager

Then add ONE file back to the proejct via project manager

Open that file and run a PLANTADUIT

Then close the file and force all users but ONE out of the proejct.

Then from Project manager, right click the project name and select Audit Project

After that we can look at what is in the file.

Thanks for the response.

Right now we have just one file in the project manager. It is the original file I was given.

Another method we tried was to take the model, copy it, paste it to a new file, and put it back into project. We couldn't do that because the model wouldn't copy. Idk if there is an issue going from AutoCAD to AutoCAD Plant 3D but even the smallest piece of the model didn't work. We tried Ctrl C, Ctrl Shift C, and just typing in CO.

So my next question is, why would Plant 3D not allow me to copy to the clipboard? Any ideas?

Thanks.

What is the warning you get when trying to copy?

Usually it only occurs if you are copying outside of P3D.

It means that there are proxy objects in the drawing that are not native to that vertical (Plant,Civil,MEP, etc.)

Was the file worked on outside of Plant 3D?

Yes, I think it was made in AutoCAD and then moved over.

How would I make them native?

Thanks.

Can you upload the file here? I can DM you a link to a private box account if you'd prefer that.

Hi ecurtisLXKTV,

This outside drawing does it have any ProSteel elements in it?

Had designer here that was inserting some blocks into his Plant 3D Steel drawing that were created in ProSteel and when he would got to create views it would fatal error on him all the time. I could not figure it out until he told me he was inserting these blocks.

Let me ask my boss. It's probably ok but I would like to make sure.

Just another update.

The file that I have been discussing with you is magically working now. I just tried to go from 3d to 2d this morning as a test and it worked. Unfortunately, The next file I need to work with is giving me the same error as the first.

Not sure what this means but I guess it's good and bad news.

Thanks.

It's possible it is your computer.

Can you disable Hardware acceleration and try again?

There is always the chance it is objects in the files or the nature of them. Without seeing them there is no way for me to rule that out.

Tom,

Thank you for responding.

To answer your question let me give you a slight update. The file I had an issue with before seems to be working today. I have done nothing different to it but yay magic. Now the new issue is the next file I am using does the same thing.

I believe Pro Steel was used in some way to make the one or more of the files I'm dealing with but I don't know the extent of it.

I can ask if blocks were involved.

Thanks.

It's possible.

We have tried this on my computer and our CAD specialists'

Guess I'm new, what is Hardware acceleration?

Well there is two things at play, as @Dadspackard pointed out and i mentioned - invalid objects, such as those from ProSteel will cause ORTHO failure or Fatal Errors.

You'll need to find those objects, move them to a new file and then run an EXPORTTOAUTOCAD to remove the proxy graphics -

*WARNING* Only do this on a drawing containing ONLY ProSteel (or any other non plant Proxy) or you'll remove the P3D objects.

Once that is done you can add that file, named ACAD-XXX.DWG or similar back to the project and it *should* run.

To check the Hardware acceleration - type 3DCONFIG and turn the switch to off - this should only be required if the video card is underpowered - i.e. not an external card.

Ok this might help. I just spoke with one of my bosses and he said that the models were made using Advanced Steel 2015. Hope this is useful.
