Export Steel structure from autocad plant 3D to TEKLA or SCIA

Dear all,

I am trying to find a way to export the steel structure built via autocad plant 3D to TEKLA or SCIA keeping the element member reference.

I have tried to save an IFC file via autocad architecture but when opening the IFC file via TEKLA or SCIA the member reference name is not recognised.

I would be grateful if someone could help me.

Lyndon

Are you using Plant3D still? If so, which version?

Accepted solution

the Command is SDNFEXPORT for Steel Structure export to other Programms.

Also the SMXL Export is for Revit or Advance Steel from Autodesk.

As the above poster said, you'd be best of exporting from Plant3D, rather than trying to use commands that won't work.

SDNFEXPORT will export the SDNF and pretty much any steel detailing package will import the SDNF file and recreate it

Thanks a lot for your quick reply.

Indeed it work, but we have problems with SCIA or TEKLA for the recognition of L and Square sections, if ever you have a solution for this i would still be very grateful.

Can we also import an SDNF files from SCIA or TEKLA directly in autocadplant 3D with the recognition of the profiles section used.

thanks

Plant3D Structure cannot import from a SDNF or SMLX.... Advance Steel will though, then you can XREF that to your Plant project.
