Export *.IFC format from autocad plant data

Hi everyone!

I had a trouble when i export autocadplant 2018 data to *.IFC format data. My drawing used the pointsense plant optiont to identify the pipe system by pointcloud data. According my knowledge, firstly i must export a *.txt file from Revit software by pointsent plant option after import this file into autocad plant and draw pipe system. when i  the drawed finish, i exported a *.txt file  to import this drawing into Revit software. But when i open this drawing by Revit, some objects was explore or invisibled. If You have some solutions to do it please inform to me. Thank you so much!

Regards.

Dear @Anonymous,

Unfortunately, IFC is not yet supported in Plant 3D.
The development is still at Dexpi

After banging my head against a wall, I did test an available plugin for Navisworks with success. Autodesk needs to provide this as a native export, but in the meantime Codemill IFC Exporter | Navisworks | Autodesk App Store will do the job. Disclaimer, I'm using the 15 day trial for a project specific need and don't know if I'll fork over $500 to do this in the future. Good luck.  Screenshot 2023-12-12 165455.png

Have you performed this with success? I've seen that provided as a solution, but it does not retain intelligence of objects. We want to create not just an .ifc - but an .ifc with purpose.

You lose the intelligence of the objects as soon as you do the export to AutoCAD. Unfortunately other than the IFC exporter you already found there are no good options available. Although Codemill also has an exporter for Plant 3D, which allows you to skip the Navisworks step.

What do you need .IFC for? Piping component information is usually exchanged in .PCF files which you can generate from Plant 3D. If your partner company/client is using Revit you can use a Collaborate Pro project to enable worksharing/clash detection and property interrogation through the ACC portal (no need for IFC)...

Not all data has to be available on all platforms. There are a multitude of workflows to collaborate and to sync designs. Honestly if you ask me .IFC is one of the lesser ones and more of a trap than a boon. But that is a discussion for another time/place and I don't mean to question the validity of your request, but if the end goal is to make clashes between architecture/engineering designs there are other workflows. If the end goal is to make piping data available on another platform, there are other workflows... etc....

What we need is .ifc from advance steel and plant 3d (we're an Autodesk shop). Our client is working in Tekla and requires .ifc with intelligence.

I've had better luck with the Navisworks converter than the Plant 3D converter that you mentioned.

You're workflows are correct for Autodesk ecosystem. In this case, we have to find a way to work with others.
