Hi All

 

Need resoultion,

 

Can anyone tell me how to set a dimesnion to the centre of a tee when routing pipe i have used basecomponet command when the tee is insertered hortizontally and i get the dimension to go to the centre of pipe but once i change the plane for the pipe to go vertically it wouldnt let me put in a dimension to the centre 

 

Help please

Hi Kevin,

 

a dimension is a 2D command so you can only draw a dimension in the X / Y level...

 

So just change the coordinate system the way you need it to draw a vertical dimension. Just have a look into my pictures.

Thanks for the advice matthias but once you do CTRL right click in plant 3d does the ucs not change its just my starting point for my pipe is to the port of the tee not to the centre.

The dimension confused me a bit, I am sorry 🙂

 

Yes you're right. I also had the same problem some month ago in a project.

 

I used a simple AutoCAD line from the center of the tee to the height I want. After that I drew a pipe from the tee and used the strecht grip from the pipe and matched it with the endpoint of the line.

 

It's just a workaround. I don't know the cause and am also not sure if this can be changed.
