Data Manager Purge?

One of our guys overwrote his model with another file.  We retreived the DWG file from back-up and restored it to the project.  The problem we have now is that Data Manager shows quite a few <unassigned> items under Pipe Lines that do not have any data associated with them.

I've tried Auditing and Compressing the History w/purge, but this information does not go away.  I even started a new project from scratch and imported his models into the new project.  The bad data is still there.

Any idea's what I should try next to remove these empty data fields?

Have you tried to start a new project and just bring in the restored BAK drawing alone. Do you still see the unassigned values? Is so, it seems like there might be some issues going on with the recovered BAK drawing. If you just opened the BAK recovered drawing, list the properties for a pipe. Is it list it as a Pipe or something else?

Yes, I've started a new project from scratch and added the back-up model to the project.

It appears to work fine, but there is still "blank" unassigned items that are showing up in the "Order by Area", "Pipe Lines" list of Data Manager.  These bad items, with no data in them, I am unable to find to list.

When I list the properties of pipes I can see, they do list as a pipe and seem fine.

Try to use the SYNCSTYLES command as well and see if that helps.

If that does not help. Then start a new project and create a new Plant 3D drawing in the Project. Open your drawing file and copy clip the model. Then go back to the new drawing you created and paste the model into that drawing. See if that resolves the issue for you.

I'm not sure how SYNCSTYLES works, nor can I find info on the command.

I've made a little bit of progress in finding some of the items.  If I go to Data Manager, Order by Area, Pipe Lines and then select Pipe Lines (not the bad lines), the list has a bunch of items without line numbers.  If I select the "Zoom To" for the item at this level, some things like gaskets will show up.

Listing the properties of these gaskets doesn't show anything odd and they do have a line number.  If I delete the gasket, the bad item will go away from the list.

The hard part is that the "Zoom To" is zooming out so much that I can't locate the bad items, i.e. welds that are 10ft apart.

Looks like I have some bad connectors in the model.  I did a QUICKSELECT and deleted all the connectors in my test copy.  When I did that, all the bad data disappeared.

Of course, my entire model is now disconnected.  Is there a way to just find these bad connectors?

jabowabo - Thanks for that info.  I'll use that.

For locating the bad connectors, I changed my view from Wireframe to Realistic.  This allowed the tiny red dots to stand out from the background, ever so slightly, and we are able to delete these bad items using the Data Manager 'Zoom' feature.

You can also hold control while selecting to grab only the connectors. 🙂
