Converting Cadworx to Plant 3D

I'm looking into converting Cadworx piping specs to Plant 3D? Has anyone accomplished this in 2018? Currently Plant 3D is looking for .spec files which have not been around since 2012 All the reference material I have come across is dated, see below: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/learn-explore/caas/blog/www.pdoteam.com/2012/07/conve... https://www.pdoteam.com/2011/10/converting-cadworx-specs-to-autocad-plant-3d/

Is anyone familiar with the Cadworx  datafile.tbl location?

Good day! @Anonymous @jw7018

I'm not yet familiar with this topic. If I have spare time I'll try to help you out.

The datafile.tbl needs to be in the same folder as the specs as well as the *.dic file.  If you are able to get this to work please let me know.  I am having the same issue.

Build the specs from scratch, taking best advantage of the benefits of the native system.  By the time you get a working conversion properly tweaked and checked, you wouldn't be saving that much time.

Hello

ECE Design now has a tool to Convert newer (>2013) CADWorx specifications to Plant3d.

https://www.ecedesign.com/socketworx/specworx/

Thank you

Jeff

Yes, thanks!

I watched the ECE webinar this week, it looks promising for prj specs.

Our company is currently in the process of evaluating switching.  We watched the webinar as well and they are doing a demo for us this week with one of our specs.  We have probably around 100 specs to convert and this has been one of our major hurdles as to not to switch in the past.  We buy the AEC collection so plant is basically free.

Post your progress and thoughts when you do convert specs, that would be great!

@jw7018

What was the reason to abandon Cadworx?

Inventor 2025, Vault Professional 2025, Autocad Plant 3D 2025

I am still using both.

Some clients are requiring Plant 3D.

Some companies site cost for the switch.

Both Cadworx & Plant 3D both have pros/cons.

We purchased the ECE Specworx.  Very disappointed.  Having to redo much of the conversions and just rewriting others.  Comes as is with no support unless you purchase support.
