Is there a way to create control valve subclasses? For example, can I create a "ball control valve" subclass under the control valve class?

Dear @PJ_Hall ,

Technically it is possible but I have never tested it.

Ok. I will give it a try and see if it opens up any new capabilities.

Ok. I was able to create subclasses for specific kinds of control valves. But I don't think it really got me anywhere because I can't really attach an actuator to. I can map it to specific 3d valve classes. But the whole process is clumsy. So here is what I propose.

1. Eliminate the control valve class. Valves are valves whether they are control or hand valves. These can easily be mapped to valves in spec.

2. Make actuators an engineering item in the instrumentation class. These are what is actually being communicated with and should be tagged with the instrumentation tag.

3. One should still be able to take a hand valve and convert it to a control valve. But instead of putting it in the now defunct control valve class, it would automatically attach an actuator and attach a specfic tag to each component.

Thoughts?

Yes, I have also racked my brains over this control valve a few times.
Please enter this request in the Plant 3D idea station.
