Change line based on status

Is there a way to change the format of an object (equipment, pipe, instrument, etc) based on it's status? For example, if a piece of equipment is going to be demoed, then it would show it gray. If it is new, then the equipment would be bolder than an existing equipment. Or even different colors would be good.

I guess what I am looking for is something like Paint P&ID for the piping which changes the color by size or service and apply it to equipment which changes the color by status.

Something like that except in P&ID instead of 3D

Yeah I looked into that. Now I am just wondering what is the best way to set it up so that equipment color can change. I am investigating how setting color and linetype to "by block" vs "by layer" and etc. affects the overall behavior in P&ID.

Try using the Plant 3D paint setting for P&ID:
