Catalog & spec renaming

hello all,

I am new here. I realized now that I should have renamed the Catalog before starting my project but now after 90% completion I keep seeing a software update that changes my model and realized this might not happen had I renamed my catalog? I used "ASME Valves Catalog.pcat" and spec "CS600.pspx CS600.pspc"

Now I would like to know if it's possible to do 2 things:

1. Rename a catalog already in use. (not shared yet)

2. Should a spec also be renamed?

3. Can I change Long Descriptions for parts in the catalog then add to spec and see my BOM eventually update?

Thank you all for any help!

Craig

Dear @cpchaney ,

we seriously need to talk about these 2 things 😁

to 1. yes you can do it but please not in the running project you will lose the connection to your pipe specs

to 2. you should create the pipe specs again so that you don't create any problems in the future

to 3. yes, but not for the current project. If so, it will be very interesting and I give no guarantee of success

LOL... I know, sorry about that.

Really though! I have a lot more questions but they will come.

Thank you for the help.

Hi Hartmut,
Please excuse my second post today. It has been a long rode learning P3D for me and I just noticed your answers to my previous questions again. The difference is that they make more sense to me now. Thank you!

Hi Jason,
Thank you for the links. I realize I just asked the same question again today and noticed your comment after. I'll be able to understand better now that I have learned so much more.
Thanks,
Craig
