BOM Generation Combines Specs

When generating a BOM in an ortho drawing, I am having this issue where the quantities of pipe are being combined even though they are from different specs.  The description of these items is different in the specs.  These are newly created specs, no copy and paste or save as was done.

Any ideas?

Bumping.

Would be nice to get some input from Autodesk rep here.  This is a very serious problem to have the program not reporting BOM correctly.  Especially on larger projects where it can be easily missed.

Bumping again.

Surprised no one has encountered this before and there has been no comment from Autodesk.

Are the combined pipe (from different specs) the same schedule and long description? For example a 150# spec and 300# spec may both have 3" pipe as SCH/40.

They are the same schedule but different materials.

The long descriptions are different, so P3D should separate them on the BOM.

Can you try putting something different between the items in the "Item Code" property and see if it still combines them?

Please post the actual descriptions, and a run-down of all the properties, of each pipe.  Also your BOM report settings would help.

@dgorsman

Item descriptions as follows:

PIPE, BE, SCH 40, ASTM A-106 GR B, SEAMLESS, ASME B36.10

PIPE, BE, SCH 40, ASTM A-53 GR B, ERW, ASME B36.10

BOM Setup as follows:

Table Type: Bill of Materials

BOM Layout Template: Simple BOM

Show column: ID, QTY, ND, DESCRIPTION

For what its worth, my solution was to rebuild the spec whose pipe was NOT showing up from scratch and replace the pipe in the model.  This corrected the problem and luckily it was a smaller project so rework was not too bad.  I tried using different BOM configurations and interestingly, if set to cut list it did NOT combine the two different pipes/specs.  If I added the specs column to the BOM configuration, it still combined the pipes.  In that spec ONLY the pipe was combined.  No other fittings.

I have been using P3D for 7 years and have never had this problem before, at least that I know of, and this is something that could have easily been missed and caused a major problem for our firm and client.  I was hoping someone here or at Autodesk had seen this before and could offer a solution to prevent it from happening.

Thank you for the recommendation.  If I encounter this issue again I will give it a try.
