Bolt calculations. I understand how the program calculates for bolts. Bolts on a 4" 150# R.F. flange connection is 3-1/2 inch long Used with a bleed ring you add + 1.5 for bleed ring + 1/8 for gasket + 1/8 for gasket = 5-1/4"
This is correct and it show correctly in the Bill of Material, but engineer would like to add 2" to the bolt length every time a blind ring is used, instead of 1-3/4". I don't think this can be done. If been trying. At first I thought of just eliminating that length from the Bolt Length Calculation tables. But then that length will be removed from every calculation. That may cause problems later.
Has any one else had this issue, Several Engineers I worked with in the past prefer to call out slight longer than standard bolt to be on safe side.
