Adding notch to Structure Members

I know this is not possible because AutoCAD Plant 3D isn't meant for structure detailing but how do you guys work around it?
Currently making it as 3D solid but the downside is of course you can't report it.
So if you guys have any suggestions that would be great.

We use custom python support for customized structure.

You can also do your steel work in Advance Steel or Inventor.
