A chalenge for experts!

I posted several Question and never saw any answer

maybe for this one!

I have a large Plant with 10 Process unit, each unit divided into at least 8 smaller area. Some area has more than 100 line numbers. some lines continued on next area or came from...

I have too many common header lines in these areas, for exampel: a 24" NS cooling water supply, a 24" NS cooling water return, a 36" NS fire water, a 40" NS flare line and ...

our customer wants a distinguishable file naming for isometric drawings. he wants to come file names from their area. also he wants to recognize location of each line number easily, specially for common lines, so, he wants to see "FROM" or "TO" refrence accompany it's DWG file number.

Something like this: CONT'D TO (ISO-27002) 2"-CWS-300121-A1A-H

                               CONT'D FROM (ISO-27004) 2"-CWS-300121-A1A-H

The blue part: this is Dwg file name. (27 is Area name, 002 and 004 are after/before isometric file numbers)

The red part:  This is line number tag. (Size-Service-Line number-Spec-Insulation)

The color is not matter, just used for better describe.

please See the below image, the 40" red pipe passed from area 27, 26, 24 and 25

file naming.jpg

I'm using Plant 3D 2014

I'm ok with line number tag and project setup

1- how does software spilit 40" line and generates seprate isos with a name consist of its area?

the 40" flare line, passed in all areas and  in each areas should have different blue part and same red part

for example: in generated iso from area 26, I want to have something like this

CONT'D FROM (ISO-27002) 24"-CWS-300121-A1A-H

CONT'D ON (ISO-24008) 24"-CWS-300121-A1A-H

2- how can i change defult file naming method in AutoCAD Plant 3D?

I need Isometric file names in this shape:

(ISO-27001)001.DWG

(ISO-27002)001.DWG

(ISO-27003)001.DWG

(ISO-27004)001.DWG

(ISO-27004)002.DWG

(ISO-27004)003.DWG

red part for isos with several sheet.

this is a realy big issue in my project

Any idea??

sorry for bad grammar. I'm not fluent in english.

thank you very much.

This is very tricky and very good question.
It seems impossible to solve.
Did You try to make first some algorithm with block scheme to see is possible to solve.
Try to, in advance, define number of isometric drawing (ISO-27002) and in LINE LIST (of project) to connect them with appropriate pipe line numbers.
Then in Plant3D define new properties for P3D Group, something as "Isometric Drawing Number", that designer must fill by hand.
Maybe this will be the beginning of solution.
adding...
But then if You have some interconnecting pipe that goes thru different areas, You will have several different drawing numbers, hmm. very complicated to do some automatisation.
from my experience interconnecting pipes that goes between units have unique area code, and is not connected on a code of process unit.

Hello

when you want to change the numbeing of sheets open Isoconfig.xml in folder f template that you using and in section FileNameFormat or DrawingNameFormat, and change this row in xml file -  number of digits change to m3 and start from to 001 (or somethik like this)
