Showing dimensions as feet and inches - AutoCAD for Web

Hey all,

Just as the subject suggests, I am having trouble figuring out how to show dimensions as 40'-6" for example. Does anyone know how to do this?

Thanks!

Get into the Dimension Style Manager, pick a Style, Modify..., Primary Units tab, Linear Dimensions area, Unit format list, pull down and pick Engineering or Architectural [depending on whether you want partial inches as decimals or fractions].  Or set the DIMLUNIT System Variable to 3 or 4.  And by all means, read up on units of measure in Help.

I have no idea, but surely it has some way of setting the Units format in Dimension text.  What have you found in Help?

Nothing. I discovered that you can open an an acad imperial file. But if you have created a field and just changed the units to architecture I'll will gust give you the decimal dimensions. Frustrating!

@scott_williamsLDDWC For now, you have to create, or have someone create for you, a template file with all your desired option, then use that for creating new content.

For existing files, someone with desktop AutoCAD must create that option first for you.

In the meantime, your wishlist may or may not appear in the next 1-2-3-5-10 years, it depends on where this now-stagnant web app ends up in Autodesk's software lineup.

One approach on Autocad Web is to just manually override the dimension on the drawing.  If my units are set to architectural, they appear in inches when I first create the dimension.  However, the Properties menu will show me the actual dimension in feet and inches.  I can then override the default (inches), and input the value in feet and inches on the drawing.   Kind of a nuisance, but workable if you don't have a lot of dimensions to deal with.
