PDF failed to generate on every drawing

I am a teacher and have kids using the web app. For the most part it is going well, however, I have two students who get the "PDF failed to generate" message with every drawing. Changing the file name has not worked. Students share their drawings with me in Google Drive, and when I try to plot the same drawing to pdf I also get that error message. I am not sure why this issue would be specific to their accounts. Any suggestions?

Thanks.

Hello @ajhughes02

Welcome to the AutoCAD Web App Forum.

Could you share the same drawing with me in a personal message?

The way you describe it, sounds like the drawings carry a certain kind of corruption. Since the issue appears for both, I am wondering what both students have in common.

  • Do they use the function "New Drawing" or do they "Duplicate" a drawing which already carries a certain form of corruption?
  • Do they use the same (maybe unsupported browser) which is not one of the following: The AutoCAD web app is supported by 64-bit Google Chrome, 64-bit Mozilla Firefox, and 64-bit new Microsoft Edge (Chromium based) on Windows or Mac.

Do you have more insights? If you could send me the drawing via PN, that would be great. For now I suggest a certain form of corruption.

Best regards,

Thomas

Hello @ajhughes02

thank you for your PN, I received your files. Unfortunately I was not able to reproduce the issue:

1. I was able to access both files and saved them in a new folder in my AutoCAD Web App File Manager opened with Chrome.

2. I opened the files and was able to plot both active Layouts to PDF:

CahillModify - Layout1

plot_1.png

Newman - Layout1

plot_2.png

3. The PDF file was created, I was able to open it and saw the same content as shown in my AutoCAD Web App.

4. I did not find corruption in their drawings when I opened the file in the AutoCAD Desktop App

Please let me know the following:

  1. Do you still face the issue when you run the steps I described?
  2. Do they use the same (maybe unsupported browser) which is not one of the following: The AutoCAD web app is supported by 64-bit Google Chrome, 64-bit Mozilla Firefox, and 64-bit new Microsoft Edge (Chromium based) on Windows or Mac. If not please make sure a supported browser is used.
  3. On which environment do they run the AutoCAD Web App - Windows 10?
  4. Which content are you plotting? Also the layouts shown in the screenshot above?

Sorry. Thought I replied to that. They are starting new drawings in Google Chrome. Students have chromebooks that they are working on. They are plotting layout 1.

We are storing files in our google drive, which we added through the web app. I can try to have them start drawings in an AutoCAD folder today to see if that might be the issue.

The PCs in my lab do not have the capacity to run the desktop app. I tried to open the files on my desktop computers (running the latest windows in google chrome) through the web app and plot to pdf, and they still failed.

I had one student create a drawing in AutoCAD web app storage instead of their google drive. Plot to pdf worked, so my assumption is there is something messed in syncing with google drive. I tried with the other student, but he forgot his password, tried to log in about 50 times, and got locked out of his account. LOL.

Thank you!
