Hi AutoCADers!

I'm a complete novice, just learning the interface and the task in hand is as follows:

I've been sent a .dwg floor plan of a room that is being used as an exhibition area so my goal is to map out the exhibition stand shell scheme on the floorplan, allowing for the pillars and windows etc.

So, my first question is do I need to create a new layer for this or can I add the rectangles to an existing layer?

Are there any other tips for this?

Sorry if this is a really basic question!

Andrew

Hey there.

Layers are never required when creating geometry -- you're perfectly free to create everything on a single layer. However, it's almost always a good practice to create layers in order to help you organize your drawing. A typical drawing might have a Wall layer, a Window layer, a Door layer, etc., which makes it easier to toggle on/off certain parts of the drawing.
