Chinese characters are shown as boxes on AutoCAD for iPad Pro.

The tutorial at https://www.autodesk.com/support/technical/article/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Uploading-SHX-font... simply doesn't work.

There's nothing as "Copy to AutoCAD" in my Open menu. Even opening .shx files within the app itself just shows "Unsupported file type". Any ideas?

Copying your needed SHX font(s) into the same folder as the DWG file that uses it/them seems to work for most of us, have you tried that?

It seems AutoCAD for iPad Pro doesn't fully support SHX fonts, which is why Chinese characters are showing as boxes. Here's what you can try:

  1. Switch to Unicode Fonts: The iPad version likely supports Unicode TrueType fonts (TTF). Try using a Unicode font like Arial Unicode MS for Chinese characters, and make sure it's embedded in your DWG file before transferring it to the iPad.

  2. Embed SHX Fonts on Desktop: If you're using SHX fonts, make sure to embed them when saving the DWG file on your desktop version of AutoCAD. This can help when opening the file on the iPad.

  3. Check Font Compatibility: Some SHX fonts might not be supported on mobile. Try using a basic SHX font to see if it works better on the iPad.

  4. Cloud Storage: If you're opening files from cloud services (like Autodesk Drive or Dropbox), make sure the fonts are properly synced and available.

  5. AutoCAD Web App: If the mobile app isn't working well, try using the AutoCAD web app on your iPad instead, as it might handle fonts better.

If none of these solutions work, it's possible that AutoCAD for iPad has limitations with SHX fonts, and Autodesk may need to update the app for better compatibility.
