Is there any way on the mobile app (iPad Pro) to display the layouts in black and white with line weights?

It works fine here for me when I have the plot style table associated with that layout that gives you that color-less option also loaded in the same exact folder: do you have that? you know, that's how AutoCAD Desktop works too.

If you are hoping for a generic "don't show me any colors" setting, there is not such feature in AutoCAD nor the mobile version of AutoCAD. Well, not unless you change all the layer and object colors where needed to pen #7 (aka black/white).

Let us know.

Just so I’m clear, you copy the pen settings file into the folder with the drawings you are viewing? Does that mean you have multiple copies of your pen settings file stored all over the place?

in my desktop ACad setup, I only have the pen settings file in one location and AutoCad references it for every drawing no matter where that drawing is stored…

I’ll give it a try.

Greetings @Anonymous

You asked intriguing questions for sure: so you have a plot style table uploaded and placed somewhere in the mobile app then, so like desktop AutoCAD, it can use it from somewhere? Or is the assumption the plot style table got embedded somehow when you uploaded your files from desktop AutoCAD to the cloud for your iPAD to use (in which case it would have been used an you would not have posted here)? I am more curious that anything really about your follow up query.

Did you get a chance to explore and test out your questions in the app yet? 10-15 minutes in would answer all of your questions my friend. Like you, and almost everyone in here, I am an end user like you exploring like you and discovering solutions along the way.

FWIW Cloud based programs on an ipad from Autodesk do not search Desktop AutoCAD folders and settings to work. Never has from all that I can tell, maybe I missed something.

@pendean:

Thanks so much for your patience, and your help.

So, yes, I do understand cloud based apps do not search desktop folders, I was just reviewing how it worked on desktop vs. iPad.

I copied the pen settings file (acadpens-half.ctb) to the dropbox folder where the drawing resides.

I opened the drawing in the mobile acad app.

I selected the layout that I would like to view in black and white with proper lineweights.

No luck. The drawing shows in line colors, not black and white.

I copied the pen settings file onto the iPad itself.

I opened the drawing (in the dropbox folder) in the mobile acad app.

I selected the layout that I would like to view in black and white with proper lineweights.

No luck. The drawing shows in line colors, not black and white.

I copied the drawing file onto the iPad itself.

I put the drawing file and the pen settings file into the same folder on the iPad

I opened the drawing in the mobile acad app.

I selected the layout that I would like to view in black and white with proper lineweights.

No luck. The drawing shows in line colors, not black and white.

Interestingly, if I try to plot to PDF, window that comes up shows the Plot Style file, with a yellow triangle and exclamation point next to it. So, my assumption is the app isn't seeing the file anywhere.

How do you place the pen settings file "in the mobile app"? Or is there a way I can direct the app to see the pen settings file on the iPad itself?

@Anonymous My DWG files are on the AutoCADWEB/MOBILE site in project folders (not that many folders BTW): that is the default location Desktop AutoCAD places cloud files using the SAVETOWEBMOBILE command (plus SHARE and TRACE commands to name a few) in the program https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACD/2023/ENU/?guid=GUID-A7507398-50B1-4B00-B79B-EB99A068DACA
Inside each folder with DWG files I have placed that project's CTB file.

FWIW I do not use OneDrive nor DropBox with AutoCAD, and I do not upload DWG files to my iPhone or iPad.

After my last reply, I actually came up with that same solution so I gave it a try. Unfortunately it didn't fix the problem, and my drawings are still not seeing the CTB files!

@Anonymous weird indeed. I'm not able to replicate the issue with my own files. Sorry.
