Are extruded circles visible in the AutoCAD 360 mobile App? Whilst I can see the extruded length in AutoCAD Apps such as True view, they only appear as flat circles in the mobile app.

Are you asking how to rotate the UCS so you can look at your object in something other than plan view?

Hi @Anonymous,

Not sure what you're referring to.

Could you please add a screenshot of such object?

Thanks,

Hi Dean,

Sorry for the delayed reply. My latest excuse is that I could not get my tablet to take a screenshot of A360, no matter what buttons I simultaneously held!  Anyway I am now sending this from my PC, as I could not come right with tablet. The problem that I am experiencing  is that A360 mobile will only show extruded circles as the the circle part only, no matter what type view/render mode I select. All other dxf viewers that I use to open the same dxf file with  show the circle as extrusions. (See attachment). If I export to PDF from A360 Mobile, the extrusions are visible as well.

Thanks for your assistance

Best regards

Tim

Hi @Anonymous,

AutoCAD 360 mobile app, allows you to view a 3D drawing, in 3D view mode- See attached image.

Please note- You can only view a 3D drawing. All editing and drawing capabilities are enabled for 2D viewing mode.

Hope that answers your question.

Thanks,

Hi Tirza,

Thank you for your reply. I understand the view concept well, but the problem is that no matter what view type is selected, the extrusion is not visible at all. I find this strange as it many less elaborate free drawing viewers than A360, the circle extension is visible. I have enclosed the .dxf file for your reference

Many thanks

Tim

Those are indeed  5 extruded 2D Circle objects, they are not true 3D Cylinders. AutoCAD360 only sees them as the original circles, but desktop CAD apps do not.

See both screenshots.

Looks like a software limitation. Wait for official confirmation.

may I ask if you only use extruded 2D objects for your line of work, and what it is? I'm curious more than anything.

Hi Dean,

I use Autodesk Inventor Proffesional at work to design QC inspection systems. The cylinders were generated by a CAD App I wrote that allows me to create concepts from the peace and quite of home before integrating these into Inventor. I am trying the extruded circle entity as my previous method of using a 3DSolid entity for each cylinder facet created huge files. Problem is that not all dxf viewers, included A360, see extruded circles as cylinders. This was the reason for my query

Thanks.

AutyoCAD360 can't do what you want.
A360 is a separate Autodesk product by the way and has nothing to do with AutoCAD360 where you are posting and asking questions https://a360.autodesk.com/

Hi Dean,

Maybe I mislead you with the term A360. What I was referring to was the Autodesk 360 mobile App. The point is however  that the Mobile App should recognize all Dxf entities if they are written in the proper format. Whilst I cannot categorically state the cylinders were perfectly correct, they are visible to other mobile Apps  - See atached

Thanks for the clarification: around here it's worth asking when I see A360 being used in this forum..

AutoCAD360 is really not ready for prime time use and it's really not a production tool: it needs to bake some more and probably a recipe change too.

For your needs, "other mobile apps" is probably your next move for the next year or so IMHO based on developer performance so far observed with AutoCAD360.

Good luck.
