Android or iOS for Autocad Mobile (2019)

Hello and thank you all for your time,

I have been searching for answers regarding what tablet to buy for my business which boils down to Apple or Samsung for me, but have not been able to find much of any information on which tablet OS runs Autocad Mobile better. I found one post that hinted that some features only exist on Android but can't I haven't been able to find any other information to corroborate. Here is how we plan on using the App for our architectural drafting Business: My associate will use Autocad for the desktop for putting xrefs together and sheets. I will use a tablet to draw the base and any needed details to be added to his sheets. I also am planning on getting a Leica laser measurer. We are just starting up and money is tight, but I also want to buy the right hardware so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you again.

That's a personal choice no one is going to make for you around here. Same for any peripherals you need.

But judging by how much Autodesk writes/presents/blogs/talks about iPADs and not much else... .

I ultimately decided to go with the Samsung S4 tab. I still am unsure if the iOS limitations are true and I didn't want to take a gamble. So far The S4 tab is a choice I am very happy with. The Dex mode is really handy for research/email management. You can communicate with a customer while having a codebook open while having the drawing you are talking about open as well. Then just go full screen when ready. Many apps in Dex mode can't go full screen it seems but that is not much of an issue. You just switch back to tablet mode when your not needing to multitask. The S pen is perfect for cad drafting. I appreciate your response as I took it very seriously when making my decision but ultimately when the android route. If anyone else is thinking of going for a tablet, though I have limited use with it so far, it has been a satisfying choice. The iPad is more powerful though so if your doing more civil than architectural then you may need to take that into consideration.

I'm in my searching road too now. My colleges think that Apple is the best opportunity, but I'm not really IOS person. So, I started looking for alternative variants and found these https://www.bestadvisers.co.uk/drawing-tablets. I haven't decided yet which is better for me, but I think that it's good and budget models. Hope it was helpful 🙂

I have an iPad Pro latest model and I use a NOTE9. The android version has more options for pen/pencil and generally speaking. Why iPad app sucks is beyond me.

Hello

The following information from the article "Change to the AutoCAD mobile app for Windows" might help you too, making your decision:

As technology progresses, we have found that a majority of people are using laptop-like Windows devices rather than Windows phones. To provide a better experience, we are updating the AutoCAD mobile app for Windows to more compatible with laptop-like devices, with keyboard inputs, command line, and mouse.

Unlike AutoCAD Mobile for Windows, AutoCAD Mobile for iOS & Android are designed and optimized for Tablets, iPads ad phone – all touch devices, which in most cases don’t include mouse and keyboard. If you prefer to use touch input to draft (pencil / finger) – AutoCAD Mobile for Android or iOS are best suited.

I used Autocad both on Android and iOS/ I will say right away that everything works better on Android. The main thing you need is a good tablet with a large amount of RAM.
