Rectangular to Round Takeoff

I am looking for a duct takeoff that at the main duct is rectangular and transitions to round within the fitting itself to the branch duct. It seems this is a fairly common fitting that we would probably use quite a bit. Is there a way to add this type of fitting as a takeoff option?

Hi,
I'm not sure this is what you are after but it is possible to start your
connection with a rectangular beveled tap and pull off the side of the main
duct just far enough to get the tap but no duct and then change the duct to
round before dismissing the add duct tool and you get a rect. to round
transition and round duct.

Kind Regards,

Ken Spicer

A rectangular to round loloss takeoff was posted a while back. I'll
attach a jpg to this message and a zip file containing the dwg, bmp, and
xml in a followup. I hope this works for you.

A special thanks to Simon Jones of Autodesk who originally constructed
and posted this. If I remember correctly his original was metric so
search the newsgroup if you need metric. This one is imperial.

One more issue though. When catalog regens I get this error.

ERROR: Round\Takeoffs\Rectangular to Round 45 Degree Takeoff Imperial.xml --> Catalog update failed (unable to extract minimum part entry data set)

Open the XML file in your favorite text editor and take a gander at the
``Recipe''.

I see some other errors in there, but i bet if you fix that one, you should
be good to go.

A coworker who builds our MvParts tried to add this part to our catalog and got this same error, but he (nor I) understand how to actually fix the error. What specifically do you mean by "take a gander at the 'Recipe' " and fix it? He opened the XML but doesn't know what to do with it.

Thanks in advance.

Hello VikiBG,

Specificaly:
o Open the file with a _TEXT_ editor and change the Recipe tag.

Generaly helpfull:
o A ``Text editor'' is (See there ---->): [
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Text_editor ]
o An XML file is basicly just a text file (like an HTML file is) and you
can edit it
using a text editor.
o I have attached some files for you. These should work. I have also
included
``TakeAGander.png'' *lol* just for kicks (that's my Text Editor--[
http://www.vim.org/about.php ]).

Hope i was able to help.

OK, I take back my last post...my coworker didn't figure out how to fix this. We understand what an xml file and text editor are, but specifically what do you mean by "change the recipe tag". Change it to what?

Thanks again for any help.
