Pressure drop in HVAC

Hi, i want to make some HVAC duct designs. My main objectives are sizing the ducts and calculating its pressure drop. Can this be done on AutoCAD MEP?

 

I am new in this field so bear with me if you can. 

 

Anyone knows a post, page or links for tutorials or something that can get me on the fast track to that or on my way?

 

I´ve read "About calculations for the longest run" on learn and explore section of the autodesk knowledge network and "About reviewing the sizing results for supply plumbing lines" on MEP Help. (Both mention plumbing, no HVAC, so i am worried if what i want from the software is possible) 

 

I am right now on my 30 day trial so i have a bit of time to figure this out and decide to join the Autodesk MEP club :p. My other option is Design Master HVAC for Autocad software since i have already figured what i need in that trial. But i would so much rather be able to use AutoCAD MEP. Thanks for your atention!

Hi Iván,

If you want sizing the duct in Auto CAD MEP please see video

But it works fine if you have a very simple and straight ducts, if you have a system with lots of elbows transitions it doesn’t work at all (when I have request for project in mep for me its always better to make a sketch on paper and draw duct in mep- old school)

When you finish the sizing duct you want to calculate the critical path (longest run )  but I am pretty sure that MEP cannot recognized a critical path­ (calculations for the longest run) and calculate the drop pressure, you can read a drop pressure Pa/m in properties for straight ducts, but for the fittings the data don’t exist (I think that is to complicate for mep).

But the Auto Cad MEP guys was think if you draw the duct in mep you can export the duct data in another software and calculate the duct, optimize, pressure drop, and back the data in the mep, but you must buy additional software for this.

For me personal its always better buy software with this possibilities inside the software like revit.
