How do I generate a BOM?

Hi all

New here and new to AutoCAD Electrical and MEP. Not new to plain AutoCAD. 

I started a position as a electrical eng. The company bought me a few product and I am trying to understand how electrical and MEP works. I viewed a few videos and did some googling. I still struggle to see how I can implement Electrical and MEP to my work. 
I managed to create a BOM on MEP to summaries the cable tray within a building. 

My question is how do I create a table to show the cables on electrical? 

Currently I have drawn a random wire (slipdac cable 3-core 2,5mm^2) "connecting" a switch to a light, both are blocks from AutoCAD I created.

I have also added a light block from the Electrical catalog hoping the report function can atleast show I have a light on the drawing. I keep on getting a data error on the command line.  

Also I would appreciate it if someone can tell me why the scale on Electrical is so small? On attached picture I am showing a 1 Bedroom layout with the random cable and light but the light is too small to see on this scale. 

The results picture will show what I am trying to accomplish, a table for the wiring.
