Triangulation in round edges

I am using the trial version of AutoCAD 2020 Mechanical. I ma used to the controls and very comfortable using AutoCAD in general. I like the ability to switch between the 2D and 3D modelling workspaces with ease and on-the-fly. However; I am using the 3D environment to model objects to be 3D printed and each print I have printed has experienced extreme triangulation on all rounded edges. I have tried utilizing the "Facetres" command and set the value to 10 (the highest setting) and have not experienced improvement. Is there any way to accomplish round edges with 3D printing using AutoCAD?

Hi Jake,

Thanks for posting your question in our forum. May I know if you export your 3D model with the option "Create a binary STL" option? Are there any difference if you choose "NO" so it will create an ASCII file. For "FACETRES" command, it will be automatically set to 10 if you use "3DPRINT" command.

Is it also possible to share a picture of your model and the settings you used for your printing?

Best Regards,

Mi Le

@Rankin_USAThis is likely not an AutoCAD issue but rather a slicer issue, I do a lot of 3D printing on the side and the majority of the time the issue lies within the slicer software. What slicer are you using?
