System variables

Why do system variables change intermittently in Autocad 19? Every month or 2 some variable changes. Some times the same variable other time another. Then I have to search on lines to figure out what changed? This takes a long time. It prevents me from doing my job. This is a waste of time and serious problem that requires Autodesk's attention promptly. This is very frustrating  Recent changes I had to fix:
FIELDEVAL
PICKFIRST turnned itself off couple times
OSNAP turnned itself off couple times

I dont want to deal with system variable monitor? Which does not work correctly.

I dont want anything to change unless I change it.

Thanks
Ozzy

Turn on and use SYSVARMONITOR by adding those variable dear to you with the desired settings: the command will notify you when the change so you can discover the culprit.

Thank you for the reply. I really appreciate the help. I plan on trying this. I read in other forms it does not work very well. Also there are a lot of variables in autocad and it loses variable setting randomly for the most part and I am being introduced to variables that I did not want know about. If I dont change a variable then it should not change. I also cant help to wonder why is Autodesk having a variable to monitor other variables?

I once had a meeting on how to have a meeting lol. Common sense issues were raised such as be on time and be prepared so you dont waste every one else's time. I cant help to wonder may be this is similar. Autodesk may be using this as quick fix for bugs?

Thank you

Ozzy

Try it, you will lose nothing and will discover it works just fine for 99% of us form the last few versions its been there. Don't assume forums dedicated to things not working is the answer to everything.

Otherwise you will need to dive into startup routines and setting reactors to help actively keeping those variable on, they are not flawless but they give the illusion of magic happening in the background.

There is no hidden 'button to push" to fix it sadly. You have to actively own the solution.

If you need help with programming, the dedicated forums are over here https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/autocad-customization/ct-p/AutoCADTopic1

Thank you for the reply 🙂 If there is a way to make SYSVARMONITOR watch over ALL the system variables and notify me when one changes, explain to me what changed and what that variable does. This would fix my problem otherwise I dont see it as solution to my problem? Because every few weeks I have to spend time searching why Autocad does not behave like it should. This some time takes hours. This is a waste of time for me.

Thanks

Ozzy

@akhamoYou could always get things set the way you want them and then save a custom profile. Then if something changes in the future just reload your profile and instantly everything is back to the way you want it.

@akhamoThis is what I do for this exact reason, I have it setup exactly how I want it and then if something gets changed and I don't know how or why it changed I can just reload my profile and everything is back to normal, works very well.

Does this set all the variables? Including the variables you dont know about or heard of?

Reword my question:

Did Autocad ever fail for variables or reasons you dont know why?

And you were able to fix the problem by simply reloading your profile?

Thank you

@akhamoYes, it does reset system variables, I have a different profile that's used at the office that is used by everyone and anytime someone gets something really messed up we just reload the profile and they are back in business.
