Scaling a step file?

Hi all,

In the latest release of ACAD MD, the options for creating a stp file are not there anymore. I am trying to create a Step file and everytime I do, it makes the scale go extremely high.

Does anyone know how to fix the scale issue with the stepout command?

Thanks,

Sc

Type -dwgunits and press Enter.

What does the command line report as your current document units?

Does it report the units you expected?

Hi,

Yeah it states the correct units of mm. But when I make the STP file it seems to increase the size by a factor of 10. (so goes to meters)

I checked the units command and changed this to mm (it was unitless before) and this seems to help the issue. But its strange as I dont normally have to change this setting.

I have no interest in the Units command.  My interest is -dwgunits command.

Can you attach the original *.dwg file here?

Yeah, that is what I meant in the first part, I did check the -dwgunits and it was stating mm (which is correct) but the stp file extracts as meters.

It seemed to help when I changed the units command to mm instead of unitless

UNITS:

1. Type - Sets the current format for units of measure. The values include Architectural, Decimal, Engineering, Fractional, and Scientific. The Engineering and Architectural formats produce feet-and-inches displays and assume that each drawing unit represents one inch. The other formats can represent any real-world unit.

2. Insertion Scale - Controls the unit of measurement for blocks and drawings that are inserted into the current drawing. A block or a drawing that is created with units that are different from the units specified with this option is scaled when inserted. The insertion scale is the ratio of the units used in the source block or drawing and the units used in the target drawing. Select Unitless to insert the block without scaling it to match the specified units.

***Note - In the Options dialog box, User Preferences tab, the Source Content Units and Target Drawing Units settings are used when, either in the source block or the target drawing, Insertion Scale is set to Unitless.

-UNITS:

1. Controls coordinate and angle display formats and precision.

UNITS is the command you want to adjust in your case. As you found out. 🙂
