Part List/ BOM Mass property?

All,

Looking for information on how to setup the parts list to use the MASS and TOTAL MASS features for 3D geometry? I am guessing that a formula needs to be inserted somewhere within the Expression field in order for it to read and update properly?

Thanks for the help,

Anderson

Hi Anderson,

If you are using AutoCAD Mechanical 2016, Total Mass property is already available in the templates.

For older versions or legacy drawings you may create a formula in the BOM settings dialog box as shown below.

BOM.png

Drag and drop Mass and Total Mass properties into BOM and Sync Component Properties and Partslist columns.

Create a Partref for each 3D solid to see the info in the BOM/partslist.

Please let me know if you need more details

Does the mass have to me manually entered or will it read from the mass properties of the part? When I set the Value to = Mass, then entry is still blank when I assign a part reference to a solid?

Can you send me an example?

Mass have to be entered manually while creating a partref.   BOM/Partref doesn't read Mass properties.  The data inside BOM dialog is read from partrefs that are created in the drawing.

Hope this helps

Im asking your help with the following,

I made the field of total mass but now i would to know how to get it on the drawing.

What i like to have is a line above the partlist what will say

i want to count up all the parts.

is this easy or will this become a lisp.

hi Marc,

In my previous reply, I highlighted how to get the total mass into the Parts list.  Please sync the settings in the BOM Settings dialog box.  Once you have Total Mass Property in the parts list tab, you can insert a parts list into the drawing.

 Thanks,

Hi Marc,

I am doing good and thank you for checking.  Greeting to you.

Unfortunately, BOM properties cannot be used as fields and hence you see "####".

As suggested earlier, we can enable the total mass in partslist so that it is visible when the partlist is inserted in the drawing.

Please see attached sample drawing.

Hope this helps

He Sridhar,

do you know "GEN-TITLES"?

I found out how to het te total mass in the titleblock of the drawing, i discoverd in a existing titleborder de GEN-TITLE-....

Now i used GEN-TITLE-TMASS, you can see on the picture it works

My only think is now killing the trailing zero's

I discovered it was not precision because when i change the precision the system round the number but still kept the trailing zero's

Do you have an ideer hoe to doe this were to find the check mark for supress trailing zero's

Hope  to hear from you again

Hi Marc,

Apologies for delaying in replying to this thread.

Unfortunately this is a current limitation and we cannot suppress the trailing zeros.  We have already logged a bug in our system.

Thank you for your reply。This problem has been around for a long time, starting with version 2016. Can I know when this problem will be solved?
