Hi,

I there any option to show the properties pallet in the toolbar as shown in the attached screen shot, so that we can avoid typing the command PR every time and this was there in AutoCAD Mechanical 2014 but i am not able to find in AutoCAD Mechanical 2017.

Thanks

Hi @basmalli,

That is a great question. The Properties Palette is an entity separate from the Ribbon, but it can be opened from the Ribbon under:

  1. The View tab, Palettes panel.
  2. From the pop out arrow on the Home tab, Properties.

See the screen shots below.

Properties in the Ribbon.JPGT

Properties in the Ribbon2.JPG

Please let me know if this answers your question or if you have further questions.

Hi Cheryl Buck,

Thanks for the reply, but your suggestion has not led to the solution.

1. The first point is clear.

2. From the pop out arrow on the Home tab, Properties.

This is my requirement, but i could not find out Properties panel in my home tab as you have shown, attached is my screen shot of the home ribbon.

Hi @basmalli

I apologize, I believe I had the Vanilla profile open when I took the screen shot. It is possible to modify the CUI to include the Properties button on the Home tab of the Ribbon.  See the following Autodesk Knowledge Network (AKN) article for instructions:

To Customize the Ribbon

This video from Lynda.com also does a walk through:

How to customize AutoCAD Ribbon and Panels

The button is called Properties. Please let me know if this is helpful.

Hi @basmalli.

I am checking back to see if my post helped you adding a Properties button to AutoCAD Mechanical 2017. I also added a video tutorial that I found on Lynda.com.

Please let me know if this helps resolve the issue or if you have additional questions.

Quicker answer: no.

Any reason you don't either dock and auto-hide PROPERTIES on the side if you do not have a second monitor to place it there instead?

Hi,

I get to the part of being able to add in  a panel to the Home tab via the CUI however I can't find the Home-Properties panel within the list. I'm requiring the Properties Panel within the Home tab as it allows for changing the Linetype easily.

See a screenshot of part of the list below.

Thanks

If the panel is in the Ribbon and you can see/use it, then it is in the CUI too, so you either have the incorrect CUI selected before going into the panels section OR you decided not not scroll up/down that area you provided a screenshot for to look for it since it may not be perfectly in alphabetical order all the time for anyone anywhere, CUIx placement tends to be by edit

By "incorrect CUI " are you referring to the different workspaces? neither have the Home- Properties panel.

The issue is that I can't see that specific panel. I have looked through the whole list (see pic attached if you don't believe) and it doesn't contain that panel.

My AutoCAD Elec does contain that panel, Is there a way I can transfer that over?

I've tried copying the workspace from ACADE CUI and pasting it in ACADMECH CUI but that doesn't work.

@mrshaybooIn your screenshot, you are running your older than 2023 ACADE "as AutoCAD".

The "correct CUI" for that panel you want would be this one (ACAD.CUIx)

When running ACADE as ELECTRICAL, the ACADE.CUIx does not contain the plain-AutoCAD panels, you have to select the ACAD.CUIx from the list first then you see the panel you want

MECHANICAL seems to not autoload ACAD.CUIx when run as MECH, at least not in my 2023
