I am a student trying to model the crane hook in the attached drawing. Notice that the bottom half of the hook reduces in thickness as you get closer to the end of the hook which ends with a spherical radius of 9. I was able to create a 2d view of the hook no problem, but I'm stuck as to how to create it using 3d tools. Neithe extrude, revolve, sweep or loft would suffice to model this thing. Can someone advise on the ideal technique to model this hook? The only thing I can think of is to manually create many cross sections and do a loft or sweep between the cross sections. Can someone who is a guru please give me some advice?
