Hatch Ribbon Not Working

I just installed AutoCAD 2018 and the "hatch ribbon" is not displaying when I click on the hatch button. I just get a command

line. I have tried all settings of the hpdlgmode and none bring up the hatch ribbon.

Type command Hatch (BH) then right click on the ribbon > Show Panel > tick on Pattern

Hope this helps

Hello @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD Mechanical forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

If you would like all your commands to open to dialog boxes or in the ribbon, in the command line type FILEDIA and set it to 1.

I hope that helps.

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you send a ScreenCast of what is happening when you create a hatch and link it in the thread so I can see what you are seeing?

I look forward to hearing from you.

Hello Cheryl,
I can't install the Screencast without IT approval but I attached a screenshot.
When I click the hatch icon on the ribbon the command line changes to what
is in the screenshot. The ribbon never changes.

Thanks

Hello,

If a default installation was done, then nothing should have changed ideally.

When you start command _HATCH in AutoCAD Mechanical 2018 (and you don't have ribbons disabled) you should get the full hatch ribbon display.

One way to disable the ribbon switching to the hatch-creation tab would be to modify the CUI.

Start command _CUI, on the left side in the tree go to AMPP ==> Ribbon ==> Contextual Tab States ==> Hatch Creation

Now how is the "Contextual Display Type" set on the right side?

If it's not set to "Full with focus" ... then change it to "Full with focus"

Untitled.png

If the Contextual Display type is showing blank, that means that there were some customizations done (or maybe migration and that failed).

If you do not have any other customizations, and still cannot get the Hatch Contextual tab,

Start again command _CUI, and then right-click the ACAD on the top of the left tree ==> try first "Restore ACADM.CUIX", if that does not help then run "Reset ACADM.CUIX"

Hope this helps,

Thank You,

Hi Dan,

I apologize for the delay in response, were you able to fix the issue?

The screen shot that you sent did not come through with your post.  But I may have reproduced your issue. If you click on the drop down next to the hatch (see below), and HATCH is at the bottom of the list, does it activate the ribbon if you choose it?

If so, the issue is that the ribbon button is configured with a predetermined hatch pattern as the primary command.

hatch.PNG

You can edit the CUI and change the HATCH command back to the primary command for the button or, if you are not comfortable editing the CUI, as an alternative, you can use the drop down to initiate the HATCH command, or type HATCH in the command line.

To edit the CUI:

  1. Type CUI in the command line.
  2. Under AMPP, expand Ribbon
  3. Expand Panels
  4. Expand Home - Draw (this is quite some distance down the list which is not in alphabetical order)
  5. Expand Row 1
  6. Expand Sub-Panel 1
  7. Expand Row 3
  8. Expand Hatch
  9. Move Hatch to the top of the Hatch list under Primary Command

Please select the Accept as Solution button if my post solves your issue or answers your question.

It turns out the problem was with the upgrade from 2017 to 2018. The upgrade does not
transfer previous settings from 2017 correctly. I had to do a reset to defaults and it is now
working. Thanks.

Hi Dan (@Anonymous),

Thank you for coming back and letting me know a reset to defaults resolved the issue.  AutoCAD Mechanical does have a couple important updates available, they can be installed from your Autodesk Account or from the Autodesk Desktop App.

I am happy to help if you encounter the issue again. All the best.
