File causes CPU lag when using OFFSET ACADM 2015

A user is trying to offset a line in a drawing and is experiencing extreme lag when doing so. This occurs only on this particular drawing and the windows process "usermode font driver host" utilizes 5-15% CPU and Autodesk utilizes ~25% CPU after selecting the offset option. We have purged the drawing and tried with and without hardware acceleration. We have updated all drivers and firmware.

Hi @Anonymous,

I see that you are visiting as a new member to the AutoCAD Mechanical forum. Welcome to the Autodesk Community!

I am sorry to hear that one of your drawings is causing a CPU spike. Often when this sort of thing occurs, it is due to something in the drawing, so that was a good idea to check the drawing. There are a couple other cleanup tools available in AutoCAD that you could try, see the following Autodesk Knowledge Network (AKN) article:

How to repair corrupt AutoCAD files

Export objects to a drawing file with WBLOCK command

Also, I did see a post in another product forum in which one user stated that they were able to stop the Fontdrvhst.exe from causing a lot of data chatter on their CPU by turning hardware acceleration off, then updating their graphics card driver. I am not sure how this relates, but thought it was worth mentioning.

Video card driver updates can be downloaded from the manufactures website. See the following links:

AMD Driver Download
