Hi,

I came across this error message when I use Mechanical Desktop opening a .dwg drawing file.

The error message says: fatal error unhandled access violation reading 0x0004 exception at 654fabd0h.

I have been using mechanical desktop and have been successfully opened and edited other .dwg files. So only this particular file cannot be opened.

When this file was opened, the error pops up and forces you to click OK. After click Ok, the app crashed every time. 

However, this particular .dwg file can be opened successfully in Draftsight, which tells me the file is fine. 

Does anyone have experience solving this issue? Please help me with decoding this issue. Much appreciated.

There is not software or system fix for "one prticular file": files get messed up.

Error means little, it's a generic crash report: open your file with RECOVER or RECOVERALL commands in AutoCAD and fix it if you don't want to open it in Draftsight (which is less picky about file formats) and save in Draftsight first.

Can you able to share the drawing file with us. I will be more than happy to assist here. Also do let me know your current version of Mechanical. We have some known issues with drawings created or modified with Draft sight. Appreciate more inputs here.

Thank you for your response. I have already fixed the file. I used Draft sight to open and save it as a new file type. Then reopen again in Mechanical Desktop will solve the issues.
