Dimensions changing on layout without input command

Has anyone had dimensions change on a layout view without any input keyed in? I have had this happen on closing and reopening a file and also when highlighting a dimension without any input other than the click of the mouse. Currently using AutoCAD 2018 Mechanical.

The latest incident was a dimension on the layout view of a simple drawing was 3.875" and after saving, closing and reopening the next day appeared at 2.965". When the dimension was highlighted (clicked on to check properties) it changed to 2.445". There was nothing in the properties view that seemed out of place. The ends were still anchored on the part as drawn. The dimension was deleted and re-dimensioned - which came back to the 3.875". We have had this happen numerous times and are starting to watch very carefully for it. As of now it is only occurring in the layout view when we are making prints.

Show us: post your DWG file, point to the auto-changing dim, tell us how to repeat it on demand.

Or make a new layout and a new viewport and start over from scratch.

The problem is not repeatable on a consistent basis that I have found. Attached is screen shots of a dimension for a diameter that changed from its original to a different dimension. The trigger this time was the text color was changed from "yellow" to "by layer". This is not the only time it changes. Sometime switching between layouts will trigger a change other time adding another dimension will cause other to change.
A new dimension was placed on the layout to show the difference. The second page has each highlighted to show the properties. The "Dim scale linear" is different between the two dimension.

There is no fix for random acts: and random acts tend to be user-triggered (without deliberate intention) most of the time in my experience. Get in the habit of tapping QSAVE before you move to another layout or file and see if that solves your random events (QSAVE triggers a deselect of objects).

BTW, you have to come to the site to post files and images: you can't do it by email, its a spam-control thing used in these forums.

Still have not figured out what I am doing wrong to continue to have the same problem.  However this file has a repeatable problem that is similar where the Dim linear Scale in the properties will be different between the OAL and the C to C of the holes. Again I can't find what is causing this issue.
