Data Extraction to excel

Hi

Background:

I am working on creating a parts-library, i am doing this by creating blocks from exsististing parts such as different pumps, valves or similar.

If these blocks are properly defined i should then be able to add them a drawing/an arrangement of these parts and then extract details, such as locations for each part.

I can do this by using the command "Dataextraction".

Iam working with autocad 2016.

Problem:

I have noticed that you can add attributes to the blocks and i cant seem to figure out how to extract this data to excel.

I have added an attribute called "weight" and given it a specific value and i would basically like to extract this "weight"-value and the location of the part to excel.

My dream is to make a smart button using VBA - which add/change weights and locations on objects depending on my autocad drawing.

Am i using to wrong command or do any of you have a smarter approach for this?

Thank you.

Hi @frj,

there is a tutorial over at the Civil Immersion that I believe explains what you are trying to do. It is for Civil 3D but maybe it works for mechanical as well:

Finish Strong Friday: Civil 3D Property Set Data – Link to Excel with Fields
