Due to PLM limitations, we have had to install AutoCAD Mech 2017 on some computers. On one computer we have a strange situation. This computer has a user who had AutoCAD 2016 running on it. We uninstalled 2016 and installed 2017. Now, when he tries to use the Command prompt, everything he enters returns "invalid command" even though "suggestions" will autofill the prompt window.
Now, a second, new user uses the machine for AutoCAD 2017 and, for him, the Command prompt works fine! I am thinking user 1 has some old prefs stored somewhere but I am far from an ACAD expert so am not sure what is happening.
Ideas?
TIA

Might I ask where user preferences are stored? It does not seem as if they are under Appdata as I renamed the folders under Local and Roaming to "force" a new ACAD user profile but some changes he had made still appeared (I think it was line colors).
They are buried everywhere: this is Windows after all.
It's simpler to give the user an all new log-in if you want to do what you opted into instead of a program reset or removal/reinstall.
