Hello! I am new to the forum and this is my first post!
I'm a Mech E student currently working on a project. On this project I have quite a lot of part references with balloons, and through their balloons I have a few dimensions annotated. I tried to break the dim lines at their intersection(dimbreak), but instead got a message "Selected object cannot be used to break the dimension" when selecting the balloons when using the dimbreak command.
I have used AutoCAD for a few years and I remember I have successfully executed this in the past, and upon looking up tutorials, it is clearly stated that dimensions can be broken by balloons.

Both dimension and the balloons are created using AutoCAD commands, and are in their original state.
I have searched the forum and did not find any answer to this. Any advice would be appreciated!

Using the "Auto" function breaks the dimension at the centerline and the detailed view's leader works just fine:
