Applying dynamic constraints

Hi,

I'm a new user to AutoCAD but I've worked in SolidWorks before. I'm trying to figure out the correct work flow for applying dynamic constraints on objects relate to the GCS then relative to one of the objects.

If I draw a circle and place it at the GCS origin (*0,0), will it possibly move from this location if later on I apply some constraints between this object and others? Is the best practice to apply the geometric FIX constraint and lock the object to the global location, or is there another way to prevent movement?

I have several objects on different layers that I then need to draw relative to this circle. Should I use dynamic constraints to place these objects where I need them, then fix them? (For SW users, I am assuming that dynamic constraints are equivalent of SW's Smart Dimension?)

I know there could be several "right" ways to do this, but I would just like a way in that my objects are constrained properly so that as I continue defining objects relative to others there isn't any unwanted misalignment of objects or deformation going on.

Thanks!
