Point Clouds & Map 3D: Beyond Visualization and Surface Creation
How would you like to see point clouds utilized in your daily workflows? We're interested to know how this rapidly expanding technology should be extended in Map 3D.
just a few ideas about what might be needed (and what I'd like to have
create contours from point-cloud
create profiles from 2D.alignments = polylines (as long as we don't speek about Civil 3D)
create multiple profiles in one step, so e.g. for all objects within a line-SDF create the profiles
from profiles creating simple profile views might help someones
let the profiles be extruded by attribute (e.g. you have a SDF with house borders 2D) ... first step is to drape them into the point-cloud-elevation, next step is to read the upper elevation or building height from the SDF-data and extrude that profiles to that elevation.
create polygons based on lidar classification (so buildings, low/middle/high vegetation, ... are something like vectorized) on different layers or as SDF polygonal file with classification-id/name as attriutive data
