Windows Server 2012 R2

Hello,

Currently running Map3D 2012 with Oracle 11gR2 running on a Windows 2008 R2 server. We are preparing to upgrade to Map3D 2015 SP3. Usually when we migrate to new Map3D versions, we take the opportunity to build a new server with the latest Operating System and supported version of Oracle.

The Map3D 2015  (and 2016) requirements list Oracle 12cR1 as the database (good), but for the Operating System only Windows 2008 R2 is listed (bad). That seems odd and old. We want to install Windows 2012 R2 with Oracle 12cR1. Oracle supports running 12cR1 on Windows 2012 R2, why does Autodesk not list it?

Is anyone else running their Oracle database on Windows 2012 R2?

Heath

Hi,

from my understanding you ask about the OS for Oracle 12c R1.

In general AutoCAD Map didn't care of the OS where the database is installed.

Only the OS for AutoCAD Map is relevant and should be listed in the system requirements we have no Windows Server support for AutoCAD Map.

Import point for Oracle is that the Oracle Client is installed on the same PC as AutoCAD Map and has the same bitness as the OS.

Can you please let me know where the information about the limitation of Windows Server 2008 is written, so we change the documentation.

Regards

Brigitte
